  • Several current clinical roles treating physicians and VIP’s in outpatients and patients in Indian Health reservations around California via telemedicine.

  • Regular mentorship and supervision of multiple faculty, residents and medical students for clinical and research work, with excellent evaluations

  • Membership of numerous search and general committees and multiple consultations to external collaborators and businesses

  • Re-written and re-opened the Health Informatics Masters program and developed an online Certificate program

  • Coordinated and chaired nine annual UCD Health Informatics Conferences

  • Co-chair of UCD Health IT Blue Ribbon Committee, planning a path forward for IT across UC Davis for the next decade

  • Managed budget of $35m and staff of 275

  • Drove a process of IT standardization with increased security audits, and the implementation of a campus wide open-source Learning Management Platform

  • Planned a High Performance Computing Data Center

  • Negotiated several multi-million dollar commercial contracts for UC Davis

1999 - 2003  

Foundation Director, Center for Online Health, University of Queensland, Australia

  • Created the Center for Online Health with start-up budget of $1.6m and long-term sustainability plan

  • Developed and directed the Queensland Telemedicine Network statewide, the largest in the world at the time, with over 200 sites by 2001

  • Obtained sufficient research funds to make Center sustainable with my departure to the United States 

1995 - 2001 

Chair, Department of Psychiatry, University of Queensland, Australia

  • Large distributed medical school with 1000 medical students – responsible for delivering 15% of entire medical course and had proportionate budget

  • Responsible for all Mental Health Services from the Royal Brisbane Hospital (1000 beds, including 90 psychiatric) – budget $25m pa, and staff of 300 FTE

  • Substantially enlarged the Academic department, with 10 new faculty, and an increase in 30 PhD and masters students

  • Drove change in medical course to problem based learning and online medical curriculum, as well as move to a Graduate 4 year program

1992 - 1994

Director, Mental Health Services, South Australia

  • Senior Physician for State mental health system - $60m budget

  • Medical Director for 500 bed psychiatric hospital

  • On Statewide management group reporting directly to Minister for Health

  • Drove major changes to increase community services, as well as developing the first statewide telemedicine program
